WebEx is like Zoom. If you’ve used Zoom, or Teams, or group video calls on WhatsApp, you’ll have no difficulty using Webex. You can use a desktop computer, a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, and you can even use a landline phone or a plain ordinary mobile with no smart features. Some people find it a little easier to use than other platforms.
WebEx is more secure than other platforms, but the big difference is that WebEx don’t sell their users’ information to advertising, marketing and profiling companies.* They don’t need to, as the subscriptions from people who host meetings pay for the service.
Here’s a YouTube video on how to join a WebEx meeting.
Here is the WebEx help Centre with lots of useful information.
You will be able to join the meeting for our appointment up to 15 minutes before the appointment time, so don’t feel any pressure to wait until exactly the stated time before you connect. You will not be asked to wait in a waiting room but will get straight into the meeting.
See you soon!
* Two good books about the way your information is sold and used are The Age of Surveillance Capitalism (a long and scholarly read) and Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now (a short and accessible read).
