Safeguarding is embedded in the Church body’s leadership, governance, ministry, and culture.
The Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency, CSSA, is the central agency that has been created as the professional standards body to which all Catholic Dioceses and Religious Life Groups in England and Wales will be accountable.
The Diocese of Nottingham has a professional diocesan Safeguarding team who train, support and work closely with parish Safeguarding Representatives.
The duty to love one another, to protect and safeguard one another, is part of that commandment we have all received from Christ Jesus; at its heart is the duty to help protect the safety and dignity of everyone, especially the most vulnerable, and to respect, listen carefully to, and learn from those who have been victims and survivors of abuse.
Diocese of Nottingham Safeguarding Policy Statement
The Catholic Parishes of All Saints and St Mary Crowned in Glossop are committed to the Safeguarding Policies of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults from any form of abuse or maltreatment and to promote a safe environment for them.
This commitment flows from the fact that we are all made in the image of God and the Church’s common belief in the dignity and uniqueness of every human life. We start from the principle that each person has a right to expect the highest level of care and protection, love encouragement and respect that we can give.
We will liaise closely and openly with statutory agencies to ensure that any concerns or allegations of abuse that are raised are promptly reported and properly investigated, victims supported and perpetrators held to account.
