Glossop Catholics

Our first consultation meeting is next week

Next week sees the first of the series of meetings in response to Bishop Patrick’s instruction to undertake a consultation “about the viability of having two Catholic parishes and churches in the town, and looking to reduce these, through an extinctive union, into one single parish with one church for the entire town.”

It is only right that registered parishioners of the two Glossop parishes should have the first opportunity to choose which of the meetings they attend, and so a priority booking system has been set up. This priority booking for registered parishioners runs until 3pm on Saturday 6th September, at which point general booking opens.

Everyone who registered as a parishioner of the Glossop parishes, and who also consented to receive communications from the parishes by email, post or phone, has been invited to book a place.

If you did fill in a census/registration form, but haven’t received an invitation, that’s most likely because you’re one of the people who didn’t tick one of those consent boxes to give your permission to be contacted (but it is worth checking your spam folder if you are an email user).

Once general booking opens, anyone can select their preferred meeting by visiting glossopcatholics.org.uk/c-book-now — people who do not have any access to the internet will be able to leave a message by phoning 01457 620153.

The meetings are on Sunday 7th September at 3pm, Saturday 4th October at 10am, and Thursday 23rd October at 7pm – chosen so with the choice of a morning, afternoon or evening meeting, a Saturday, a Sunday or a weekday, as many people as possible can find one of them to suit their schedules.

A questionnaire will be published in September or October, so don’t fret if you can’t get to any of the meetings. Keep your eye on the parish newsletter for information. You will be able to answer online or by post.

Please continue to say our parish prayer daily.
