Altar servers

Altar Servers are lay people who assist the priest or bishop during the Holy Mass and other services.  Altar servers must be baptised and have made their First Holy Communion, generally Year 4 and upwards.

New recruits will undertake training with the senior server of the parish.  After showing commitment for at least six months to a year they will be invited to join the Guild of St. Stephen for Altar Servers.

Having young people involved in the ministry of service at the altar is an excellent opportunity to stress the need for more priests and religious and to encourage young people to consider whether they are being called to a life of public service in the Church.

Any adults who would like to help in this ministry should contact:

servers@glossopcatholics.org.uk

This is a role for which adult volunteers must complete the Safer Recruiting process.
